Through
my tenure as a project manager, working across diverse teams, I've
learnt that true efficiency in project management doesn't necessarily
stem from grand gestures or major changes. Instead, it's the cultivation
of small, seemingly mundane habits that can drastically elevate the way
projects are managed. While the major aspects of project management are
often discussed and highly visible, let's shine a light on those less
talked about habits that yield outstanding results.
1. Active
Listening on Calls: Engage fully in every call. Ask numerous questions,
embracing the philosophy that no query is silly.
2. The
Mighty Notebook: Always have a notebook within reach during calls,
jotting down anything that sounds critical. This practice holds value in
both formal and informal settings.
3. The
Power of Meeting Notes: Never underestimate the significance of
distributing meeting notes. This simple habit can prevent countless
complications down the line.
4. Mastering
the To-Do List: Utilize a spreadsheet to manage your tasks—marking them
off not only instills a sense of achievement but also ensures nothing
slips through the cracks.
5. Constantly
Reinforce Project Priorities: Regularly remind your team of the
project's priorities. Don't assume a one-time mention is enough.
Remember, ultimate responsibility rests with you.
6. Embrace
the Unknown: Don't shy away from areas outside your expertise. A
project manager's strength lies in a willingness to delve into the
unknown. Success isn't guaranteed, but the learning outcome is
invaluable.
7. Skillful Delegation:
Assign tasks based on individual talents, but remember, effective
follow-up is key to ensuring progress.

effectiveness.
